I used to journal on Vox, which ended back in 2010. Gosh, what a community! It was amazing. I even offered to buy the site when they closed it, but despite trying several different channels, they wouldn't even talk to me about it. What a shame. I still have friends to this day that I made there.

Since then, I've tried various things. Even made my own site for a year or so with my bestie, but didn't continue it when life got in the way - divorce, buying my own home, moving my Momma in with me etc.

This year I've been journaling in a Google Docs document, because it's better than being on one of these sites where it feels even more lonely because people *could* read what I write, but realistically, if I don't drive traffic (ugh) then no one will see it.

I just want connection. I want to read your thoughts, hear your life. I want to know what brings you pain and joy. I just want to be part of a group of humans, being.

I'm hoping this might be the place.

Thought I would introduce myself, and as soon as I work out how to, I will pin this to the top of my journal.

Hi! Hey! Hello! G'day! I'm Liv! Or Odd, or even Little.

I deal with some adult topics in my journaling, so 18+ only please if you're wanting to add me. No need to ask, just add me.

The basics:
⭐ I'm an Australian living in the US. Hoping to move continents again, or at least countries, in the next couple of years.
⭐ I have an age, but my life doesn't reflect things that most people think of that age, so I prefer to not focus on it.
⭐ Not relationshiped at the moment, and maybe not interested, since I'll be moving again soon. Very romantic, I love love. Placiosexual, mostly.
⭐ Altruistic. Nontheistic. I believe that if we all help each other out, the world could be paradise.
⭐ Short term optimist, long term pessimist.
⭐ Depressive, cPTSD, dissociative, eating disordered. Fun times.
⭐ I like to make stuff. Lots of stuff. Photography, paperclay and felt plushies of fantastical creatures are my favorites.
⭐ Clawing my way back to health and fitness after a 7 year illness that is somewhat improved starting in 2024. I have loved long distance cycling in the past, and my longest ride was 1500km.
⭐ I love re-watching movies and discovering new music by watching reaction vids on youtube. Crazy about Ren and Chinchilla's music, which I discovered this way.

Adapted this recipe tonight.

I left the veggies out since I'm eating low carb at the moment. So the first step was to take a rotisserie chicken and strip off the meat. I put the bones and skin (and the handful-ish of lemon zest, since mine is dehydrated) into my instapot and juuuuuust covered it with enough water, and then set it for thirty minutes.

Strain out the bones/skin/zest to leave the chicken stock. Measure out the stock into a pot and grab an egg for every cup of stock.

First though, set the stock to simmer in the pot. Add salt and pepper (tellicherry peppers, duh, what else would you use, you gastronomic HEATHEN!!) and herbs and spices to taste. For 4 cups of stock, I decided to use 2 tsp of za'atar seasoning, 1 tsp of onion powder (leave this out if you're going really low carb), 2tbsp chives, 1/4 tsp ground pepper, 1tsp dill.

I took my kitchen scissors and chopped them through the chicken meat until it was in fine pieces and added it to the stock.

This is the part that excited me. From the original recipe: "Whisk the eggs and lemon juice"... I used 2 tsp of bottled lemon juice... "in a bowl; drizzle 1/2 cup of the hot broth into the eggs, whisking constantly. Gradually stir the hot egg mixture into the pot. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 3 minutes." I ended up using six eggs, as it still seemed a bit watery after four.

Garnish with a bit more pepper and chives, in my case, since it's the only fresh herb I have this year in the garden.

Et voila! Doesn't look as creamy as the original recipe, I might want to keep the temperature even lower, so the egg cooks without separating at all. But it doesn't taste of egg at all, and of course has so much protein! And.... YUM!!
